Junior Researcher
​​I'm a junior investigator examining symptoms experienced by patients with HIV and possible clusters that may be associated with microbial translocation induced immunce activation and chronic inflammation. I am a Fellow with the Veterans Administration Quality Scholars (VAQS) Program. I am also a scholar in the Center for Palliative and Supportive Care at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). I have graduate teaching assistant experience in the Simulation and Skills Lab for BSN, MSN, PA, and RN Mobility students.

​My clinical expertise include providing excellent clinical care and health promotion to disparite populations: HIV, Women's Health, Homeless, patients with Chronic Pain. My focus is on healing the body and person while treating the disease. This requires a holistic approach and analyzing the root cause of the disease.

As a health coach, I have helped many people to achieve their health goals using behavior change models to effective shift the thoughts and feelings associated with behaviors that do not support living a healthy life. My focus as a health coach is to nourish the body, mind, and soul by specifically designing strategies in partnership with the clients life and current state.

As a health leader, I have developed and improved programming. I have led teams to improve clinic flow and provide cost effective care in both public and private health sectors. I have participated and provided advice on policy change boards for government, non-profit, and for profit agencies.
Clinical Instructor
​As a clinical preceptor, I have been a clinical instructor for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Schools of Medicine and Nursing, providing instruction to nursing at the RN and MSN level; Physician Assistants; and Medical Residents. I have taught skills and diagnostic thinking, and how to develop effective provider-patient relationships especially in special populations.

I have extensive experience presenting technical and scientific information in an understandable way to different audiences including the community, patients, social workers, case managers and administrators to nursing, pharmacy, medical doctors, and students. I teach an annual HIV/STD Update to nurses and case managers from different fields for Charlotte Area Health Education Center.
